Project Overview
CPER project is mainly focusing on the child protection issues through strengthening and establishing community-based protection mechanisms including community structures, child-friendly spaces, community-based psychosocial groups, volunteer youths workers, and supporting the CPAN and DCPAN. The project’s aim is to provide child protection services in emergencies in ER (Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar, and Nuristan provinces) by establishing community-based Child-Friendly Spaces (CFSs) in the targeted districts of the ER provinces and in the Transit Centre (TC) and Encashment Centre (EC) in Nangarhar province for interest and well-being of the child. CFSs provide support to children within protected environments in which they participate in organized activities to play, socialize, learn, and express themselves as they rebuild their lives. CFSs for children during and immediately after an emergency such as a natural disaster or situation of armed conflict are based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), reflected in the Interagency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) Minimum Standards on Education in Emergencies and the INEE’s related good practice guide. This report covers progress made in each indicator of the Child Protection in Emergency Response (CPER) project during September 2020.
